Mática Partners x Africa Alive

At Mática, we believe in projects that bring value and make a difference in the society around us. That's why we're joining the Africa Alive project and its mission to improve access to healthcare in Uganda.

With this collaboration, we aim to support this great initiative, contributing our part to help enhance the health and well-being of people in the Sembabule district and beyond. Africa Alive is a non-profit organization founded in 2023 with the goal of enhancing access to medical services in Uganda, particularly in the Sembabule district, where healthcare is scarce and the health situation is in a state of emergency.

It emerged from the personal experience of two of its founders, who witnessed the shortcomings of the healthcare system in the country when one of them required prolonged medical attention due to illness.

Africa Alive's vision focuses on healthcare access as a fundamental right, essential for human development, and on cooperation to achieve it, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3 - Good Health and Well-being).

The organization's first project is to establish the Bristol Community Medical Center in Nabitanga, a village without any medical facility, to provide free primary healthcare, education on prevention and hygiene, and services such as prenatal care, dermatology, and family planning, among others. This center will be coordinated by Dr. Tukahabwa Bright, with the support of the local health administration.

Sembabule was chosen as the location due to its healthcare emergency status, with high rates of HIV, spread of infectious diseases, lack of medical infrastructure and services, transportation deficiencies, and high rates of fertility and infant mortality.

Additionally, Uganda ranks among the countries with the lowest quality of life according to the United Nations Human Development Index, with a score of 0.525.

At Mática, we're actively and wholeheartedly engaged in collaborating with the Africa Alive project. We believe it's essential not only to pursue economic benefits but also to leave a positive social footprint on the world. This firm commitment underscores our dedication to sustainable development and the social impact we make globally.
